AFRS has the right equipment in any weather

Captain Sanford and "The Boys" reflect on another sucessful event.

"Rizzo" - Rough & Ready!

AFRS was instrumental, in a recent event at Buttonwillow Raceway, making sure all drivers were kept safe in a non injury "roll-over".
AFRS has had a very busy summer. One of the more spectacular incidents happened at Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca.
Both driver and passenger were extracted, treated on site and released.

AFRS continues to support and assist with NHRA. A practice extraction only proves the excellent training that AFRS demands to keep current on all types of rescue techniques.

June 1 brought AFRS to a stunt stand-by for MTV. All went well with no injuries and a prefect pipe ramp roll over! This stunt is in conjunction with a new MTV program in the works.

AFRS supported the Antelope Vally Fair in September at the "Figure 8" races. This exciting event takes place every year in support of the Antelope Vally.
It is reported that it was a fun night and everyone was safe, despite the 'car carnage'.

AFRS supported MKM Racing at their annual road racing event and took advantage of the Wendover Fire Department's 'burn trailer' to sharpen and practice skills that might be needed at the high desert event.

AFRS is always ready to do what ever it takes for the safety of the community. At a recent training day at Vasquez Park, the AFRS crew practiced repelling with rock and/or ravine rescues.

With temperature in the high 90's and dry brush, the possibilities for wildland fires are high.
AFRS teamed up with La Habra Heights Fire Department to tackle some wildland training. After a brief class in La Habra Heights training room, Captain McBride, Captain Fuentes, Firefighter (Luis Mares, Will Portillo, Jeff Ray, Greg Schmitz, Danny Solis, and Nick Watkins) and the La Habra Heights Fire Dept. went out to a hillside and performed several progressive hose lays and cut 100 foot fire line up the hill.
Last month started the "Wildfire Awareness Statewide Campaign" and as a reminder keep 100 feet of high brush away from your homes. The first 30 feet can be "Lean, Clean and Green", and the remaining 70 feet clear of dry brush.
