![]() ![]() Dan Wheldon died Sunday in a violent 15-car wreck at the IndyCar season finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The native of Great Britain was 33 years old. He’ll be remembered as much for his engaging personality off the track as his dominating skills on it. ![]() Porsche Owners Club lost one of their favorite and talented drivers last week end. Bill Fox was a talented and well thought of member of the organization for many years. Our heartfelt sympathies for Jeanette & their family. God speed Bill, you will be missed! ![]() With profound sadness, the officers and staff of the Advanced Fire & Rescue Services and United Firefighters of Los Angeles City announce the passing of perhaps our greatest member, Jim Perry. If Local 112 lasts another thousand years, the list of Brother Perry's contributions to our cause will never be duplicated or even approached. ![]() It is also with deep sadness that we must report that Chuck Weinstein, that beloved icon of the starter stand, passed away at his home on Dec 3. Chuck will always be rememered in our hearts and minds. God Speed Chuck, you will be missed! It is with deep sadness that I must report that 2 members of the Los Angeles County Fire Dept. lost 2 Firefighters Sunday in the Acton area while they were working on the Station Fire. Firefighter Specialist Arnaldo "Arnie" Quinones Captain Ted Hall Arnie was a member of the Advanced Fire and Rescue family from 1994 thru 1996 until he was picked up by Los Angeles County FD in 2000. ![]() God speed to both our brothers and may the family have peace knowing they were the best of the best. Captain Craig Sanford-AFRS ![]() Claudette Haener, wife of Bill Haener, Chief Steward for HMSA lost her battle with cancer on Aug. 8th. AFRS sends its deepest sympathy to Bill and their famliy. A memorial service is scheduled for Aug 22nd in Orland California. Captain John E. Lawrence, passed away unexpectedly while off duty. A 34-year LAFD veteran, he was widely respected in the community as well as within the ranks of the Fire Service. He will be greatly missed. Another very good friend of AFRS and a personel friend of Capt Sanford. He will be dearly missed and we will think about him daily. ![]() . "AFRS attended Dan Brickey memorial service at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona and paid our respect to the surviving family members. In the short time in which we had the chance to work with him, Dan made us feel a part of his family and friends. Dan will be truly missed, his knowledge and dedication to racing field will live on forever.” ![]() Lane Kemper March 7th, 1952 - September 12th, 2006 Lane was a 30 year veteran of the Los Angeles Fire Department. He was the Task Force Commander assigned to Fire Station 17. Recently Captain Kemper was diagnosed to have Adinocarcinoma of the esophagus. After a long hard battle with the cancer he passed away Tuesday September 12th, 2006. Lane has touched every member of the LAFD as he has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for various organizations including the Widows and Orphans Fund of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Lane was a personel and professional friend of AFRS for many years and he will be missed by many. ![]() REST IN PEACE-- DAN LAWSON Our dear friend Dan Lawson of Sunnyvale, CA lost his life as a result of a racing accident on April 8, 2006 at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. Dan was a compassionate, giving, and caring member of the NASA family and he will be sorely missed. His passion for the sport was unmatched and he was a true gentleman racer. The Lawson family is in our thoughts and prayers during this trying time of tremendous loss. A memorial service for Dan will take place at Lima Family Mortuary located at 1315 Hollenback Avenue in Sunnyvale, CA on Saturday April 15, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. The Lawson family has asked that donations be made in Dan's honor to the St. Jude Childrens Hospital ![]() Duncan Emmons passed away at the annual Coronado Speed Fest, Oct. 8th, 2005. Our deepest sympathies to Darah and the family. Duncan was an avid vintage auto enthusiast, taking the beautiful machines that he drove and owned to many different venues. God speed, Bill ![]() An Elko based air ambulance carrying 5 people went down with no survivors. These brave people who fly the injured and ill from local incidents to the closest hospitals risk their lives daily. A fund has been set up to aid the famlies of these brave "angels in the air": There are four funds people can donate to: 1) Roger Morrison Pilot 2) Lisa Landers Flight Nurse 3)Todd Hellman Paramedic 4) Joint Acct.donation, funds to be dispersed equallybetween all three.
